Kawachi Town Student Cultural Exchange

HONOLULU, Nov. 20, 2017 - Every November 8th grade students from Kawachi Junior High School in Kawachi town, Ibaragi prefecture come to Hawaii for a cultural and educational exchange visit with Hawaii students. This year it was with at Le Jardin Academy and Wheeler Middle School

Le Jardin Academy students provided campus tours, shared lessons in hula dance and ukulele. In exchange, the Kawachi students provided special origami folding & a calligraphy class. See LJA Weekly

The exchange students from Kawachi Junior High Schools were each presented with a certificate of appreciation from Ms. Nashimoto, Hawaii First Lady Dawn Amano-Ige, and Command Sgt. Maj. Marde Stephens and Lt. Col. Andrew Graham, from the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, 25th Infantry Division. See Hawaii Army Weekly.

Nashimoto & Associates coordinated & communicated with the participating schools in Japan & Hawaii including Kawachi Mayor & Council Members, State of Hawaii Dept. of Education and the U.S. Army to make all the arrangements for the exchange students including event date, housing, ground transportation & scheduling their daily itinerary.

The group included the secondary school students, the town mayor & members of the town council. Their itinerary included a visit to the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu

The US Army welcomed Wheeler Middle School as a member of the 'global community'. See US Army Garrison.
