I hope that children around the world are “stars of hope” for the future.
As my daughter often asks me to show my presence to her children, I always try to be close to them, so that even when something happened to their parents, they would still feel secure with me as their grandma. As many psychologists point out, we need to be very aware that children need the sense of security more than adults think.
To pursue my dream of interacting with children around the world, I have started a project, where junior high school students from Hawaii and Japan interact through language/cultural exchange. It is heartwarming to see them enjoying each other’s languages, hula lesson, folding origami, and so on. It was the third time for us this past year to run the project, and made me realize that teaching children is also learning from them
